Setting up Invisible Wall Speakers and Proper Placement

Before you actually buy your invisible wall speakers for your theater room or or living room you first decide what is the proper placement for the wall speakers.  The setup is very important to feel the full effects of having a strong feeling surround sound setup especially when watching DVD’d on a Blu-Ray Player.  Blu-Ray players have unbelievable quality pictures but there major advance is in the uncompressed audio.  Uncompressed audio means that when the audio as captured during the shooting of the sequence or movie it was compressed or information was taken out so it would fit on your DVD disc.  Now in the new Blu-Ray format or HD-DVD format you have full audio that is uncompressed which makes it like you are there live.  So how did we get from invisible wall speaker placement to blu-ray discs?   Well it is important to understand what is going on before placement is made of the invisible wall speakers.  If you have a car or spaceship shooting by your screen from left to right you want to make sure your speakers are setup so you will feel the effect of this motion from left to right.  It is an extreme thrill ride of your senses.  You also want to make sure that your back speakers are setup properly for the ambient sounds that are being heard to give you the full effect of the scene.  There are two known movies that are great to test for these effects.  One of the movies that you can test it on Saving Private Ryan.  When the American soldiers storm the coast you will here gun shots and metal all around you and not just in front of you. Amazing!

Placement of Wall Speakers

The center speaker should be placed in the center of were everybody is sitting.  Normally right above or right under the TV screen.  If you have a plasma TV setup and mounted on the wall you will want to mount the center speaker underneath it and not above it.  This will give you the full effect.  You will want next to have the front left and right side speakers about 5-7 feet away from the TV facing in at a 45 degree angle if possible.  If they are laying flat on the wall shorten the distance to about 3 feet from the center of the TV on both sides.  You than want the back speakers to be set about 5 feet high on the back wall behind where the main theater seating will be.  The reason you want to have them higher up than seating level is because it will give you a stronger ambient effect.  If possible you will want these to be facing in at a 45 degree angle as well but if the wall does not permit just have the speakers in the same line parallel with the front right and left speakers.  When buying Invisible wall speakers you want to make sure that you are buying the right size speakers for the room they will be placed in.
